SALA Exhibition Decorates the RAH

Alice Blanch Wall

Alice Blanch, A Shifting Stillness #3 – #6, part of A Silent Rhythm exhibition in the Margaret Preston Gallery.

Following on from ‘On the Fringe’ the Centre for Creative Health’s inaugural Fringe Festival exhibitions, the Royal Adelaide Hospital’s (RAH) Commercial and Emerging Artist galleries are currently showing 3 exhibitions as part of the 2018 South Australian Living Artists Festival (SALA Festival). Showcasing artwork by 7 very talented South Australian artists each exhibition celebrates the artist’s individual connection with the environment and natural landscape.

Exhibitions include ‘A Silent Rhythm’ by Alice Blanch located in the Margaret Preston Gallery, an emotive display of the Australian landscape created using antique cameras and photographic film. Sonya Unwin’s ‘Summit at the Horizon’ in the Sir Ivor Hele Gallery shows a contemplative exploration of the horizon inspired by the coastal regions along the Fleurieu Peninsula, and on display across both the Bessie Davidson and the Emerging Artist Galleries the group exhibition ‘Healing Medicinal Leaves’ showcases artwork centred on native healing flora by 5 artists from the Circle of Arts Foundation – Bernadine Johnson, Gloria Petyarre, Gypsy Draven, Audrey Brumby and Glenda Hayes. ‘Healing Medicinal Leaves’ is also presented as part of the Medicinal Botanicals Project.

Exhibitions in RAH galleries are on display Monday to Friday from 9am – 5pm until August 29, brochures and price lists are available on site.
